We are part of a number of growing teams in the valley let alone in HCISD to compete in the FIRST robotics league. This competition team uses LEGO Mindstorms to build a robot and compete on a challenge course set up by the league. There are missions that students need to design their a robot as a team and program it to complete. This is only part though there is also a research part that allows students to expand their thoughts on the topic of the challenges for the season. more information may be found here http://firstlegoleague.org/about-fll.
As a robotics team we also want to learn more than just competing. We will also learn block coding using the Wonderbot Dash and his small robot friend Dot. This will allow the students to see coding in a different format then in the FIRST robotics league. There will also be a chance to fly a drone and learn the science and technology used with a drone. For those students that take a liking to coding they can work on creating and programing their own app for the android OS. This allows students to look at robotics more as computer coding and science that it is.
